Commissioners Elect Commission President and Vice President

2021 Commissioners - President Summerow Dumas, Vice President Reece, Commissioner Driehaus

At the organizational meeting of the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners, the Board unanimously voted Commissioner Stephanie Summerow Dumas as president and Commissioner Alicia Reece as vice president- setting another historic first in Hamilton County. President Summerow Dumas is not only the first African-American Commissioner elected in Hamilton County, but she is also the first African-American commission president in Hamilton County’s history.

Statutorily (ORC 305.05), the President of the Board presides over regular meetings and special sessions of the board. The organizational meeting of Board must occur by law no later than the second Monday of January each year. Additionally in Hamilton County, the president sets the agenda for Tuesday staff meetings with input from the other commission offices.

Commissioners also determined which boards and commissions they will each sit on. President Summerow Dumas was appointed to the Board of Revision, Records Commission, Family and Children First Council, Hamilton County Investment Advisory Committee, and Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency (HCEMA) as the Chair of the Executive Committee.

Vice President Reece will sit on the Hamilton County Investment Advisory Committee, Southwest Ohio Region Workforce Investment Board, and lead a new Hamilton County Economic Recovery Task Force.

Commissioner Denise Driehaus was appointed to REDI Cincinnati, Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District, and Hamilton County Storm Water District Oversight.

Each commissioner sits on the following boards: Hamilton County Land Reutilization Corporation; Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana Regional Council of Governments; and the Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency.

Commissioners also reaffirmed that they will continue to meet virtually via zoom to conduct the County’s business until further notice and encourages the public to join commission meetings virtually. Meeting information can be found here.
